Karen Kyne Cashen,
Principal
Principal's Message
My name is Karen Cashen and I am the
Principal of Padonia International Elementary School. I have worked in the Baltimore County Public School
system since 1977, and have been at Padonia since 1988. It's a school filled
with life, learning, and love!
Our school community is dedicated to providing a quality, comprehensive
educational program designed to address the needs of a diverse student
population. We commit ourselves to promoting understanding, appreciation, and
respect for cultural diversity and learning.
We believe...
That we must provide each child with the opportunity and assistance to reach
his or her potential as a productive member of an ever-changing society by
implementing a curriculum that is child-centered, engaging, developmentally
appropriate, and measurable by authentic assessment.
We believe...
That we must equip our students with the skills to be life-long learners, to
adapt to change, and to be secure with a strong sense of values and ethics as
they operate in a global community.
We believe...
That we must teach our students to be concerned for the total environment,
and to be productive, contributing members of a democratic society.
We believe...
That improved student achievement is the result of parents and communities
working as partners in the educational process with effective, knowledgeable,
and dedicated administrators, teachers, and staff.
We believe...
That Together We Can Make a Difference!
After
31 years in education, and 20 WONDERFUL years at Padonia, I will be retiring
effective June 30, 2008. Thank
you to all of the wonderful members of the Padonia community who’ve
allowed me to become part of your family. It has been an honor and privilege to
work with you. I am grateful for
all that you’ve taught me.
Best wishes to everyone! Karen Kyne Cashen

differentiated, challenging, and on-going. The diversity, enthusiasm, and
caring are apparent as you walk through Padonia’s halls. I am excited
about the opportunity to work with this talented group of teachers, staff,

as we work toward our common goal of improving student achievement. We will
work collaboratively so that each child’s individual strengths and
abilities are developed, and encourage our students to remain committed to becoming
lifelong learners.
